Encouragement

Uncle EJ was getting old and was not feeling well. As we finished up dinner together, he told me how he had fallen on his face and woke up in a small pool of blood around his nose. He told me he had been blowing pieces of cartilage out of his nose since then. I asked him if he’d mind if I prayed for his nose to be healed. as I was praying for him, I extended my finger towards his nose and touched it. He immediately responded that he felt something come out of my finger and go into his nose. It was a good something.

I then asked if I could share with him the good news of Jesus. He again said yes. I shared with him very briefly the good news in a nutshell and asked him if you would like to receive Jesus. again, he said yes. Given the circumstances, I asked him to repeat a prayer after me from his heart. He did.

As soon as he asked the Lord to forgive him of his sins and come into his heart, he immediately leaned over on the table and began shaking. his whole body was shaking. This went on long enough for me to think, “What is happening?! Is he dying?!” I didn’t want to interrupt what God was doing, but this shaking had me concerned, so I gently asked him, “Are you okay?” He quickly said, “Hold on.”

After the shaking subsided, he set up right. After confirming that the shaking was a good thing, He told me something I will never forget as long as I live. He said, “As you were talking [telling me the good news about Jesus], I could see light coming out of your eyes and mouth.”

The truth about you in Christ

  1. We are light.
  2. The light in us is power from Jesus to heal people, spiritually and physically.
  3. We can lead our relatives to salvation (yes, even those sometimes awkward relationships).

Until next week’s encouragement,
